We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with outstanding communication skills and a passion for our mission. This is a part-time sales position that will cultivate existing client relationships and uncover new revenue opportunities. You’ll be selling across multiple platforms including event sponsorships, print, social media, and more. This is a great opportunity for a strong sales person with a proven track record to work with an organization that has a lot to offer to a diverse client base. Our ideal candidate has polished sales skills with experience in lead generation, cold calling and emailing, and a strong track record of closing sales.
Qualifications
At least two years of ad sales experience
Strong verbal and writing skills
Ability to work independently and stay organized
Must be detail-oriented and thorough
Strong customer relationship skills
Ability to meet monthly sales quotas
Knowledge of media, LGBTQIA+ community, and sex positive attitude required
Must have a laptop, cell phone and related equipment to fulfill responsibilities of position

Responsibilities
Successfully describe, understand, and share the brand values and value propositions of Math Magazine
Actively participating in and coordinating pre-sales efforts, including researching prospecting brands and contacts
Generating advertising, partnership, sponsorship, and activation sales leads and assist with new sales opportunities through monitoring competitive media and identifying potential new print and digital business
Effectively articulate and communicate our brand to match with appropriate advertising partners
Develop unique proposals in-line with our brand values, culture, and goals
Developing close relationships with clients and acting as first point of contact for most advertisers
Track relationships and progress and submit reports regularly

As a Brand Ambassador, you will represent Math Magazine values, mission, and sensibilities at our events and special outreach initiatives. You’ll play an important role in building a community of Math Magazine readers, nicknamed Mathletes, through friendly engagement, product exploration, and exceptional customer service. We’re all about celebrating the full spectrum of experiences available to us and maintaining a truly inclusive mindset so that everyone is welcome. You will be expected to approach the Math Magazine customer experience in the same way.
We are seeking detail-oriented, organized, outgoing, and energetic new team members who are passionate about our brand and the important work we do. Our new Brand Ambassadors must have a talent for fostering connections with our customers and a gift for representing and selling our fantastic products. We need someone who is approachable, engaging, and confident. The ability to handle unexpected new priorities and challenging surprises on-the-fly is especially important in this role.
You’ll need to develop a deep understanding of Math’s customer and products. As our Brand Ambassador you are our customer’s voice to the rest of the company and often the first encounter new customers have with us!
Qualifications:
Must have some sales or brand rep experience
Ability to stand for a few hours at at time with short breaks and the option to sit for periods
Ability to lift boxes of about 15 lbs
Talent for arranging and maintaining beautiful table displays and keeping a professional and approachable personal style
Smart phone, for use of credit card processing apps and tools

Salary & Benefits:
If you do well at a trial-run at an event with a more experienced team member, we’ll be able to offer you $15/h (Sometimes with added perks such as merchandise, food, and travel. Depends on the event)
If transportation of supplies and equipment is ever required, you will be reimbursed for that travel
If you show sales acumen we can offer incentives and bonuses for reaching sales goals
Responsibilities:
Arrive at event or activation location early to set up Math Magazine table display
This is an hourly, event-based role where you will be given the chance to sign up for hours as opportunities arise
Represent Math Magazine, answer questions about who we are and what we do, and sell our products
Maintain a tidy presentation throughout events or other activations
Maintain knowledge of Math Magazine brand including our values, upcoming events, and answers to FAQs
Present an approachable and friendly demeanor
Break down of presentation at end of event
Communicate with Math Magazine Founder about sales, follow-ups, updates, and questions in a timely manner

As Data Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for collecting and analysing internal data and customer information and report findings to company Founder. The ideal candidate will have a growing interest in data, analytics, and learning the practical application of each in the publishing, eCommerce, and nightlife industries. As our company continues to grow, the individual in this role will be assisting in the creation and maintenance of department tools that will support company operations in gaining insight from key performance indicators. The individual will collaborate with PR and operations team members to meet various objectives.
Qualifications:

As Operations Intern you will be responsible for facilitating smooth communications and operations within our company. You’ll help the company Founder pinpoint friction points and come up with solutions for greater efficiency, better communication, and clarity on priorities company-wide. As our company continues to grow, the individual in this role will be assisting in the creation and maintenance of fundamental tools and methods that will support our business into the future.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with company Founder in scheduling meetings, responding to emails, and communicating with other interns and staff members
Work on site with Founder at their home office, at events (evenings and weekends), and at cafes and co-working spaces
Help process online orders including picking, packing and shipping. Schedule package pick-ups, and drop off shipments at Post Office
Run errands including picking up supplies and delivering magazines to local retailers
Help delegate responsibilities to magazine staff and contributors including following up on deadlines and relaying questions to company Founder
Qualifications:

Work directly with company Founder to iterate event ideas, research how to make them happen, implement plans, and assess KPIs afterwards
Plan calendar of events and deadlines leading up to it using checklists and other organizational tools
Work within an event budget, track expenses and revenue
Research venues, partnerships, VIPS, press, performers, staff, and promotion of events
Help develop systems of collaborating on events within the company and with outside organizations for future use
Arrive at all planned events as lead organizer to ensure things run smoothly including set-up and break-down
Collect feedback from event guests, collaborators, and partners for future improvements
Act as a representative of Math Magazine at events and meetings. This requires professionalism, an understanding of our work and goals, and knowledge of the plans and goals of our events

The Math Magazine Photography Interns are passionate about getting out into the world and taking pictures. They will be responsible for covering all Math events, assisting on Math productions, photographing Math products for our eCommerce site, and additionally covering related industry events. A talent for working independently and efficiently is necessary for this role. And an enthusiasm for researching relevant events to cover and a gift for seeking out talented photographers to invite to work with us is required. Responsibilities:
Cover all Math events and go on assignment to industry events
Work efficiently in shooting, editing, and sharing images on our blog and social media
Exceptional attention to detail, especially when it comes to tagging, crediting appropriately, and following the instructions of those who do not wish to be photographed or sending images to collaborators and brand partners in a timely fashion
Assist on the set of Math Magazine projects and create BTS content
The opportunity to lead in-house projects including product shoots, marketing campaigns, and video content
Assist in searching for and researching prospective photographers to collaborate on Math Magazine projects
Qualifications:
Extensive photography experience and either earned a degree in Photography or pursuing one currently
Tech savvy with ability to work in Squarespace, Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop
All the skills, equipment, and programs needed to shoot, edit, and share high quality images
Outgoing personality, comfort with talking to people, asking to take someone’s photo
Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines
Knowledge of media, LGBTQIA+ community, and sex positive attitude required
21 or older, should bring proof of age to event coverage
Reliable transportation in the NYC and Brooklyn area
